Stack Smash

Each week we highlight a new must-play game built using our software. Every ‘spotlight’ pick is either a game that’s crushing it on the charts or a title with a cool theme or gameplay concept that’s worth taking notice.

This week’s game spotlight is Sam Hardy’s Stack Smash. Stack Smash is a hyper-casual style arcade puzzler that’s similar to Ketchapp’s Stack but with a unique action themed spin. Hardy recently posted about his new game on the Buildbox forum, saying, “This game has been a LONG time in the making. I’m really proud of it, but I’m glad it’s finally finished.”

We are too. ;) So, let’s take a closer look at Sam Hardy’s Stack Smash and find out what makes this puzzler super fun.

Stack Smash A Super Fun Puzzler

In Stack Smash players have to bounce to smash, tap to shoot, and drop to get the goal. The premise is simple: try to break through the stack of tiles to reach the final checkered goal buried at the bottom. But beware, it’s no cakewalk. There are different types of tiles you’ll encounter in each stack. The solid colored tiles are considered safe. These you can easily smash through, but watch out for the red ones. Red tiles are deadly. Players have to take action and shoot to blast them away quickly.

There’s a total of 32 challenging levels in Stack Smash. And each level progressively gets harder. Players have to think fast and time each move right to make it to the end. The gameplay takes the basics of Ketchapp’s Stack and combines shooting and smashing elements to create a super fun puzzler.

If you’re a fan of hyper-casual arcade games and you love to crack a good puzzle than Stack Smash will be a new favorite casual addiction. Get ready to smash down the stack and pile on the fun with this colorful puzzler.

From all of us at Buildbox, congratulations Sam Hardy!

Hardy is not new to the BB spotlight. He’s been using Buildbox to create incredible looking games for quite a while. In fact, he even shared some of his process for making games in our previous Game Dev Interview Series. I quickly learned never to rush or cut corners during the development because if you do, your game will suffer, or worse, you cause more work down the line,” stated Hardy.

We love to see all the fun new games that our customers are creating with Buildbox. Our game spotlights are perfect for finding inspiration. Learning the different type of fun games that you make like Stack Smash using BB can help you when you’re trying to come up with new hyper casual game ideas. It’s also a great way to learn from other indie devs. So, we hope you’ve been inspired today!
