This week’s game spotlight is DERE EVIL EXE by Darius Immanuel Guerrero. This meta-horror pixel platformer built using Buildbox has been featured by Apple worldwide. Ranked top 100 for all games, #23 in puzzle games, and #50 in the adventure category, this sequel to Dere .Exe is dominating the charts.
The game is a continuation of Guerrero’s prior hit titled Dere .Exe which also did phenomenal on the charts. It received over 50,000 downloads upon release and went viral, trending on Google Play as well.
For those unfamiliar with the successful horror game series, it includes two visual novel games called ‘The Last Yandere’ and ‘Sorority Rites’ which were also both created using our software. Dere .Exe is based in the world of ‘The Last Yandere,’ which takes elements from the true story of CIA’s Project MKUltra.
The game itself is a ported .exe game extracted from a corrupted disk that managed to withstand the disaster that took place in ‘The Last Yandere.’ As players explore, they come across odd glitches and a haunting voice reaching out to them from somewhere beyond. It’s an exciting mix of mystery and horror.
In the game’s sequel titled DERE EVIL EXE, Guerrero takes players on another haunting pixel adventure even further into the unknown.
So, let’s take a closer look at this new horror platformer …
DERE EVIL EXE
In DERE EVIL EXE, players must guide a pint-sized pixel hero called ‘Knightly’ through a mysterious and somewhat terrifying world. Much like its predecessor, it’s a challenging game filled with unique puzzles, obstacles, and close calls. It’s not easy. Knightly must jump, run, and use the objects in his environment to survive.
Players are guided through the game by A.I.D.E. (Artificial Intelligence for Dere Exe) but warned although she can be helpful not to trust her entirely. An interesting concept that plays a vital role as the game progresses. There are also deadly creatures known as ‘corruptions’ that lie in wait. These sneaky monsters take the form of their creator’s greatest fears whose supposedly hiding and watching you in plain sight.
DERE EVIL EXE features a retro 16-bit arcade style reminiscent of the classics from the 80s and 90s. The stunning pixel platformer combines a rare mix of horror and nostalgia for an unforgettable gaming experience.
If you’re a fan of the original Dere .Exe or someone who enjoys horror platformer games than this gem is worth checking out!
