Hey Boxers, Our development team has been working really hard and I know you are all excited about Buildbox 3 so we decided to give you another quick look at what we have cooking. This is a shorter video, but don't worry, there is a lot more to come! Hope you enjoy it! Video Link: BB3 Quick Look Best, Zack
Nice! It would be interesting next to see how it works with models and animations you import (fbx format i guess). Also, speaking of animation, any chance of being able to import spine files?
Super excited for the opportunities that BB3 will bring us as developers. Low Poly 3d games are all the thing right now it seems - so this can't come quick enough!
OMG!! Definitely was the right decision for us to come in to Bbox 3! Keep working on it Bbox Team. So looking forward to this
Man just superb stuff. So fluid and smooth. Real time camera, sun and shadows and the nodes stuff looks amazing. Excellent
I do not believe fbx format will be in the beta release. Right now from what I have heard it is only obj, which does not include animation information. They do in the future though want to be able to use fbx, from what I have heard. With the JS though I am sure you can create some basic bone structure/animations with characters that are imported with separate limbs. The real time camera is an amazing feature! I can't wait to get my hands on this and create some nodes!
Oh ok. Not being able to use spine models is a bit of a bummer too, especially considering it's a well documented format.
yeah I don't know much about this 3D stuff really but from what I have read the .fbx format is an industry standard right? So thats a definite must have at some point sooner than later!
Actually spine is for 2d (skeletetal animation). FBX is indeed the standard and a must if we want to go beyond basic primitives.
hey @ZackGriset can you confirm no export at all in alpha 2 no modules downloaded and export is grayed out?
Yes @AndyG , I spoke with Nik about this and we tried very hard to have this available in Alpha 2, however we weren't able to fit it into this release. We will have that capability very soon, but for now, start getting comfortable with the new nodes and mess around with new tools like follow force for the camera. I might shoot a video soon showing you how to use it. We will try and have exporting out to you guys as soon as possible.
