Hey folks, just wanted to let you know there's a new build of 'Mr Buzz' for testing if you're still game? There is a pretty big list of changes since the last build and this is most definitely a slicker, smoother more tuned version. Amongst many of the new additions, one of my favourites is the new steam effect I made, it's really added a nice atmosphere to some of the scenes. I made it a while back, but from memory, I think I used a mixture of a dust-bomb movie clip mixed with a blurred particle emitter in After Effects and then sized it, shortened it and exported as a png sequence. I layered it twice so if you look closely, you can see one of the steam stems retract before the other one, this gives the impression of the steam spurting out fast and then lingering a little after it retracts - without having to use too many frames. I think it's only 25 frames. To add polish to the game, I made the steam sound effect the same length as the animation, so it sounds as if it constantly pumps steam. It was the first time I'd used the "Idle Sound" in BB and I love it as it fades in and out as you approach the steam and then move away, very cool. Nice thing about this sequence is, you can pretty much resize it in BB to cover the majority of the screen if you like and it doesn't appear too degraded much at all, given that it has blurred edges already, seems to look good at many different sizes.
Excellent stuff @Phill Mason Thanks for posting the secret sauce. Is the particle emitter in After Effects similar to whats been implemented in BB2?

Not out yet @heathclose, it's currently being pimped around to several publishers, but no takers yet, it seems everyone want "one-tap" game or nothing at the moment and Mr Buzz is a bit more involved, so may just put it out myself. I'll announce it here when it goes live, cheers.
