I'm finishing development on my next game and it made me wonder if other devs play their own game. Obviously we have to for testing and distribution, but after I submit for review, I generally delete it and don't come back to it unless I'm working on an update. I was wondering if you all do the same or something else? Playing my game seems boring to me because I know what happens next, does anyone else feel the same?
No. I play them already so much while developing I really can't see them anymore. At least not for a while.
Yes...and now I will elaborate...I play them for about 40 days after release then I don't anymore expect to see if the leaderboards show people playing or not. I play the heck out of my games during development and that's enough. Like I believe @TreySmith said you need to test and play your game so much you hate it...to make it as perfect as possible. Lol That's actually good advise. If you don't hate your game yet you ain't tested enough.
Hey cool another "mixer". I have tinkered with remixing since 1990 when I bought my first Radio Shack mixing board...now I just use ACID by who used to be Sonic Foundry. Sheeeeweet ! But I can relate. Spend weeks fine tuning a mix and know for only personal pleasure...they get old pretty quick. I need 15,000 people and an arena !!
Haha I am glad this thread came up. I thought I was the only one who juiced the game during testing that I was only able to play it twice once released.
I play it daily, every time that i can, i read read the gameacademy guide everyday, in each moment i see how can i improve something here and there in a game, the best value i have learned is, if people does not get fun for spending money in you game, why would they do it? let them cheat the game with the money they have earned.
