I'm really excited about the evolution my first game has undergone, and although it isn't finished yet, I'd like to share a look at the progression from an early prototype to the current version. I owe a big thanks to the good people of this forum... without your help and inspiration, I wouldn't even have gotten to prototype 1, but now, I feel hopeful for a successful release. Sooner, I hope, rather than later, but it's a slow process for me, with my unstable schedule, I don't have much control over my time... Maybe you might want to test it when the time comes? @theseanjonathanconnor take a look at those spinning bullet pinwheels around 20 seconds achievable in 1.3.5 but broke since 1.3.6 and bb2 beta 3... a thing of beauty... I hope we can get back that functionality...
The game is damn near perfect, I just had a few critiques: Add some "recoil" to your shooting animation. Add particles to the enemies death (like your asteroid) Slow down the movement of the plane Just my thoughts-- good luck!
Thanks for those... I've added them to my rolling list of notes and checkoffs... will see about working those in... thx again
I would also suggest making your ship smaller. It's taking up a lot of screen space right now. Great job so far!
heathclose, game looks great, working on my own here maybe you could help me out with some questions. I'm in the same stage you are and maybe you know what I need to do. Thanks
who will compile your game to put it on the app store? I need info on this if you can help me. Step by step if possible. Thanks
Looks great @heathclose! I agree with suggestions made already. My suggestion would be to adjust the look and maybe speed of the little asteroid particles after the explosion of the big ones. Currently it looks like you also need to smash them out but it seems you do not need to do that.
@heathclose I like what @VectologyGames and @Machine Rises had to say - and if you can't force yourself to slow down the action of the character due to playability, at least try and not be so jerky in your final marketing video - cause the appearance of the wild movement of the ship (even when there is nothing to avoid) takes away from how cool the game looks (to me anyway) I wish i had a game where that kind of stuff was my worst problem! lol Keep up the good work!
Honestly, I liked the old version better from prototype 1. I like its minimalism, and there is something further workable there to enhance that minimalism beyond what you had in prototype 1. I'm not really a fan of the aesthetic in prototype 2. I think the minimal look might ride on more recent trends as well, but the aesthetic from prototype 2 is a risk in my view. Thanks for sharing
I def agree that minimalistic theme is more universal in its appeal. But ultimately go with what makes you happy. If this is for business purposes, for sure go with what has more universal appeal like @Jamie advised. I would say the new version has a 90s arcade aesthetic. If it were me, I would to 80's arcade retro or more modern like you had it. Just remember these are all just feedback tips; take what makes sense for you and forget the rest Great job so far!
