...make a powerup to slow down the level speed for a few seconds

    As simple as that really!

    I did want to set a checkpoint and have the score continue after the checkpoint but apparently this can not be done!

    Simply by changing the gameplay timewrap from 60 to 40 or 30 through action.

    As above, an action that is "gameplay" then scroll down and reduce the speed setting
