Im trying to make a platformer, but I want to be able to go backwards like in super mario Bros 2. Every time I test it out I cant go backwards, (Like super Mario Bros) Once I go forward, I can't go back...

Go to advanced game setting and adjust these 2 values to your desired needs. basically increase the values in thousands and see what happens

Hello, you must also be set to "Game Play" some options.
Red arrow, to move the character remains in approximately half of the screen.
Yellow circles, so that the character can pass.

You will have to override these setting and set them to the size of your scene plus setup the games play box to the center and pull it into to center so you can see what coming both ways. Sorry Xmas in Oz enjoying BB2

I assume that this will require more memory... something to keep under watch esp. on Android. Am I right?

Certainly because the more you increase, the more images you keep in memory NOT until you leave the scene. My suggestion above is based on my understanding of the question.
