Whats everyone's thoughts. I just received a message from a fellow developer that one of my games has been cloned. Which I'm not really bothered. But it is being sold on a app source code market. My only sort of peeve is it has not been changed one bit. They have ripped the graphics 100%. And they are even using my game video preview as there preview for the game. LOL. I don't really care about the gameplay bit. Everyone sort of does that. But really couldn't they even mock up some of their own graphics and change the colours a little bit. And no you can not buy the same graphics anywhere. They may have made them but why would you make exactly the same. Only bonus is they have a few comments from users who have purchased it, that the game won't even load. So thats funny. So now i may turn my attention to just selling games. They have had six sales in half a day at $13.00 a pop. they have made more money than me on my own game LOL.
hmmmmm this your gmes http://codecanyon.net/item/the-wall...chartboost-revmob/14495056?s_phrase=&s_rank=6 and
Yes what happens there if they have actually the same bit of code in the template as the game you made is that allowed, I have no idea about this ?
I don't have a clue LOL. I just spoke to the guy who published it for me, and he said he is not 100% sure about reselling the clone of the app. But if somebody publishes a game to the stores and uses the same graphics and identical look then it can become and infringement. So if somebody who purchases the source code and does not reskin it you can then have them remove it. Unless they have permission from the person who designed the graphics. But you can not do anything about the game play. You can copy game play. But not Graphics. I dont know i do not really care they can do what they want really. The game was a 24 hour thing i made. But personally i think its funny that someone is so blatantly lazy not to even reskin it them self before even re selling it.
hahah, Thanks, I probably won't, i just hate lazy people who think they can just benefit from using other peoples work. All the color switch clones piss me off more. Its now up to color switch 3, which is crazy. Cant they even just have the slightest bit of imagination to even change the game play a little, and change the colours maybe. edit- the guy who published my game said he will take care of it, and is already in discussion with the seller.
If you hate people being lazy, yet you may/not do something about it? I think you should email as suggested and get it removed. Clones aren't a problem really - that's a way of life, but if others have ripped all the code/art etc and are actually SELLING it as their own, that's wrong and action needs to be taken.
all the games in the stores are clones of each other that's not bad but the big problem is copy past the same gameplay the same graphic name and even description.
If something is inspired by our game, we leave it alone. If they use our game name or have exact clones (same colors, levels, etc), we send a DMCA. We now hire a service that handles this, but you can do it yourself. Google around for many different explanations. I would say 90% of the stuff we send a DMCA on gets removed.
@TreySmith Yes your right, I'm not bothered with the game play, Oh i hope you have seen this game in the google play store, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crazypotato.pit&hl=en
Yes. Cloning and reskinning or remodeling is a total difference. Especially if you purchase the reskin project on a legit scale. But I had apps in 2008 that were being "cracked" and distributed on sites for jailbroken devices. I am serious when I say these apps were complete garbage. On was a how-to on homemade DTV antenna models.
What I do not understand is how they do this. Can you take a IPA build and just copy the code and that's it? Or do you have to re-code everyting from zero? Sometimes it seems it's very easy to do, at least when they copy the game 1:1.
