This is an advanced feature we will be shooting videos on soon. It simulates 3D by letting you load up an animation sequence of an object rotating. For example, you could add a sequence of an box rotating one full 360 turn. Then, using the mapper, the animation would play as the object moved left to right. Hard to explain in text, but essentially it allows you to make a very convincing fake 3D look in your game.
Very cool. So it's like an action we can place in a scene and run into, that will activate a 360ยบ animation?
Actually different, check out this video Nik made: https://www.dropbox.com/s/p5yeia140ya9aqa/BBox_RotationMapper.mp4?dl=0 Notice the stone box looks really 3D. You can see the left and right sides of the box. As it rotates, it displays an animation. Depending on how it's rotated (left or right) it will run the animation sequence forward or backward, therefore looking like real 3D.
Wow! That's actually pretty cool. All I'll have to do is insert an animation, and let the engine decide when it should animate, depending on its rotation right? I'll try it out now. Thanks @TreySmith
I notice in this demo the boxes seem to only fall and animate right/left. I assume they could fall and animate in any direction?
