Ok, so i have 2 games in the app store with about 5000 downloads but i barely make a cent a day and have very few sessions, so im asking is their something im doing wrong or anything else, i neeeeeed heeeeelppp!!! Thanks in advance!
Make sure your gameplay has high retention, this where the money comes in. If players keep replaying and have many sessions then they will view many ads. Also 5000 doesn't equate to much revenue, your goal should be 100-200k daily to see some nice cash flow.
Doesn't matter how many downloads you have. If there not playing your game you won't make money. If there is no retention, then your game doesn't appeal to players. Move on and make something users want to play. Unfortunately that's the harsh reality of making games. We all think our games are good. But it's not sometimes,
Thanks but 5000 downloads with barely any sessions just doesnt seem right to me, but thanks anyways. And do you guys have any tips for getting your game to get more downloads and have people play it more?
As wesam said are the downloads mainly from China.? Because there has been a spike in downloads China but no game plays. I've been averaging over over 30,000 downloads on my games a day just from China but those 30,000 aren't being played.
Same thing is happening with us, a hug spike in downloads from China but no actual data. Think so installs from China are fake maybe
same is happening here, around 250 installs a day but no retention data or sessions. All from China, most probably fake installs
Ok, I just checked and 4.97k out of 5.30k are from china, does anyone know why china downloads are fake or why apple isnt fixing this problem?
@5petersonzachary yes it is possible that the installs could be fake or from a bot farm. My question is did you buy incentivized installs from a website? If so highly likely those may possibly be bot installs. If you didn't then you don't have to really worry about it. As far as China, China is very particular. They don't use Google play or iOS for appstore installs. They use their own marketplaces that are local to that region. For example Baidu is one of their marketplaces. Could be only android I haven't seen in a while.
From my experience China do a lot of bulk downloads. A couple of my games had random 3000-5000 downloads on only 1 day, then back to normal. I emailed Apple and they said it was accurate data, but most likely educational institutions downloading wholesale using their educational purchase plans. For example a School preinstalling it on phones to hand out to students, or a company preinstalling games/apps on its workers phones. I believe you can untick this option in iTunes Connect.
