    Hello there,

I'm scoring the music for a computer game. Because it's a computer game i'm anticipating that its going to be played on some crappy systems. The style of the music is orchestral. Some what like the Transformers music. it not too complicated, full on strings and percussion.

My problem is getting it to retain the ambient quality on the more tinny laptop systems. I'm using an MPX1 lexicon reverb which is decent but the music sounds so much dryer on a laptop. games sound

Any ideas? I can't just turn up the reverb as that'll swamp everything.

    These are my ideas:

    1) Before routing to the Lexicon use a more roomy reverb (or even delay).

    2) Compress the reverb

    3) boost the the reverb 1KHz+

    4) Mix of 2 and 3.

    What do you think?

I wouldn't use too much reverb as you know it will sound too wide.
    Here's what I would do :

Use as close to studio headphones/monitors as you can to get a good overall sound.
Try not to cater to one device as on the others it wont sound too great.
Eq would be your best bet in adjusting anything here.
I personally would make the mix sound as good as I can get it pre master then master it for general devices.
This will or should give a great sound if your using headphones or just speakers.
Hope this gives you some tips :)
