Basic question. I created a background image at 1136 x 640 and fits perfectly into the game editor. Most devices are 1920 x 1080 and I figured that would be best to build the game in that size however the background image doesn't fit properly when creating the game. Any particular reason for that? Thanks.
I think BB used for any game the resolution that dices1136 x 640. I use solid colors for backgrounds 32x32pixeles. You can also use the method Parallax.
You definitely do not want to go bigger. But as jcalle said, try to use small PNGs like a 32x32px blue image and then expand it to the entire screen resolution to have a sky (for example). You don't need to do a 1136x640 sky which would fill very fast your atlases. Remember 1 - 2 atlases gives the best performance. 6-8 atlases is maximum recommended by many developers here. I personally wouldn't go above 2.
Yes I agree I did mine as tile sets so just repeat your tile to fill your ground, or sky etc.. Also if you group your object then you can have separate layers for ground , sky, etc
Thanks everyone for the replies. I have a unique background that is not a solid color. I think my graphic designer can cut it in half, but unfortunately won't be able to go as small is 32 x 32.
