I know but if you are old enough you can remember reprogramming EGA/VGA characters to look fancy or just use box drawing or other extended ASCII characters to do cool stuff on the text display. Good ol' days and your trick helped me to remember those times
The font has "bars" instead of "digits" in it. So when health is 1 the character that would normally a "1" looking character is just a smaller "bar" but number 9 is much longer one (instead of the "9" looking character). So you display coins, 9 coin will look like full bar while 1 coin very small. Does it make sense?
@VectologyGames any idea on how to make character die , if you got that health bar of coins zero ? -_-
the enemies give you coins, the health packs are -1 coins, and the health bar in my video reached nine, then an event observer saw nine coins and triggered game over... so backwards than what you are thinking...
@heathclose thanks mate ! and btw i just have to create a ttf with my health bar designs right ? like i want a same health bar as shown above by vectology in video , i need to give at value 1 the empty health bar and at value 10 the image of full health bar in my ttf right ?
as far as I understand, yes, @VectologyGames may have more to add, but I think he made 0 full, and 9 almost dead, there wouldn't be a 10
The great thing is, since it is a font you even can change the color of the health bar within Buildbox, put a shadow, a gradient... Very cool.
@heathclose finally made it with a ttf <3 basically design your whole idea of health bar in a TTF file amazing !
I appreciate that but the credit really goes to @VectologyGames for the brilliant idea, I was just able to reproduce it and post a bbdoc for it...
Here is the issue that I have with this method. I placed an action behind all enemies and yes, it will affect the health, but the problem is that now I can not use advance moves because when I do the enemy is killed but because the power-up is still behind the enemy, I still take damage.
This is a new guy question but...I've never done anything with another person's bdoc so what do I just download it and then open it to see how you did it?
This is great stuff thanks @VectologyGames ... has anyone gotten something similar for enemy health bars. I've seen one way that involves connecting transparent objects that are then connected to health bar pieces... but there really seems like there is a better way.
I've tried the font files in this post all of them are showing numbers I've tried the font files in this post all of them are showing numbers not a bar!! Also How to make colored?
