I'm not sure if a video reward really makes sense. Heyzap only pays money if you can make the user download the announced game. If I give 50 gems as a reward and the user 'only' watches the video each time the button appears, it will give him so much gems for free without having any revenue. Isn't this stupid to do? What are your experiences from games already published?
Heyzapp is the only one supported. @darren: I doubt that Crossy Road made the major part of the earnings with the video ads but rather with the in-app purchase of the characters... don't you think? Also, Crossy Roads has a great bonus system which in the current Buildbox is not possible yet.
I do think the majority of their income was from video ad income (Mr. Jump made $20K a day on ads https://www.chartboost.com/blog/2015/04/mr-jump-20-000-day-mobile-game-ads/ ) as Crossy Road didn't really chart very well on the grossing chart. http://imgur.com/LWRCysu Crossy Road has the best combination of monitization: 1) users request to watch a video which, physiologically is way better than being interrupted with an advertisement. You are more likely to install an app that you personally volunteered to watch. 2) users can earn a chance (via coins) to unlock a random prize, but.. 3) if you really want a particular prize you can buy it with real money via IAP (Buildbox is one or the other as each character is available via "Free, In Game Currency, In App Purchase, or Reward Video" http://imgur.com/1xN3agA it would be nice if you could buy a character or random unlock with coins BUT also purchase with real money) 4) you can buy a $3.99 coin doubler Piggy Bank (I assume is active for all future games)
@Christoph Crossy Road made make most of their revenue from Ads (although no specific stats on video ads breakdown). Their initial split after 2 weeks of game release was 80% Ad / 20% IAP. After 3 months and changes to the game it was 66% Ad / 34% IAP. See attached.
