Tutorial Pages Have Been Updated

Hey Boxers!

Hope you are all doing well and working hard on your games! I just wanted to announce that we have organized all of our YouTube tutorial videos and have added them to the Buildbox tutorial pages.

You can check it out by clicking here.

We added a total of 77 videos and we plan on adding a ton more. Here is a list of some of the helpful documentation that you can expect in the coming weeks.

1. Buildbox 3 User Manual
2. Short tutorial videos explaining software features
3. A complete 2D tutorial video series
4. A complete 3D tutorial video series (We already have a few, but I will make more)
5. A complete exportation, monetization, and submission video tutorial
6. A bunch of short video tutorials explaining how to use each of the nodes and smart assets

If you think there would be some other useful documentation that is not listed here, then please comment with your suggestions. We greatly appreciate your feedback.

great! Im following along with the tutorials so far, does BB3 have tutorial for next world (ive seen it in bb2). Im able to get the unlock button to work to show next scene (although it keeps duplicating it infinitely like a mirror!?!) but when i switch to next world - nothing happens---

Thanks for the update Zack! I have gone through all of the videos several times and cannot wait to see some new ones. I would really like to learn how to end and switch between levels correctly. It would also be nice once everything is finished to have a video series that goes through each group of nodes.

 

Well @ZackGriset these are old tutorials:

We would like to see video tutorials about:
1. How to make RPG game with BB3 from start to end
2. Explaining all nodes in BB3, especially those in the Processing Section
3. How to create coin packs in Shops for BB3
4. How to unlock characters (your way)
5. How to use Send/Receive/Threshold nodes more specifically
6. How to make level progress bar that track coins/points, not just distance for BB3
7. How to make perfect score in BB3

These are good ones to consider

Hi @ZackGriset I will appreciate if you can do some tuts below?

1. How to create in-app-purchase for character, world, & specific level from start to end?
2. How to setup rewards video ads by using admob and chartboost networks for iOS and Android? (very important do not skip it please)
3. How to zoom in/out camera when we collect coin, jump from ramp or any specific action called?
4. How to import 3d models and textures and any tip in sense of 3d game optimization?
5. How to create special power-ups like magnets, shield, restore health, teleports, transform (like bb2)????
6. How to make a game like 'Jelly Shift by SaysGames'?
7. Explaining All nodes with best practice specially in 'advanced and Processing' sections.

 

Zach this is great news I can’t wait to check this out. You sir are an asset to BB and the community man you rock !

 

arent these all the videos already available on YouTube Zack ? whats new there ?

 

He said they organized them, not added to them. I got exited too. I clicked on that link faster than a hornet with roid rage only to realized there wasn’t anything new. BUT! I will say that I am very grateful that @ZackGriset organized them because when I first started out I was more confused than a monkey doing a math problem. I didn’t know the difference between buildbox and the video titles didn’t always delineate between versions.

 

In this situation, it is a big success.

HA! I'm happy as I can be. I know what their vision is and I trust it will happen. If not in a reasonable time hopefully, there will be incentives or bonuses for the faithful boxers. I think that BB is just trying to wrap their head around developing a new product while scaling the company at the same time.

 

ok the infinite world thingy is fixed...i changed adding threshold to 0 (this is in the 3d world node) also used unlock /lock button fixed to jump to new world too...thanks keep updating buildbox! verseability.com

 

Hello, can you give tutorials about how to add jump node with left right and centre character controls like 3 lane smart assets?

 

if you watch the tutorial " how to make a game like voodoo" parts 1,2,3 that exact part is in there somewhere I remember

HEY ZACK MAKE SOME ADVANCE TUTORIALS these basic tutorials are learn by heart now ... like angry birds, traffic run, rpg games, or other vehicles and advance character movement.. thanks
