I would like to know too, because buildbox used this method in the game of phases, but I have and isea ill test and tell you my results
If you want scenes to be random like The Line Zen then use Stack Scenes. If you want them in order like Phases then you Align scenes.
I've heard of others talking about doing both stacking and aligning in a game. For example, phases ends with endless play. However, I think others have mentioned that they have also been able to stack and align scenes such that it sort of combines an endless random assortment from within an alignment of scenes. Did anyone do that?
Very handy. I imagine this would be a great way to create 4-5 random stacked scenes to provide the user with a different starting experience and then align the remainder to map our your game, is that the right way round?
Yup, very groovy @Andy, thanks. I reckon you could get really creative with this. I'm thinking of using this method for another game I have in the pipeline where I could offer the user a random 3, 4 or 5 scene part of the game and then continue on along a mapped aligned route. The beauty of this is, I can do this at the beginning, middle and end of the game, or indeed anywhere else through the game where it would make sense to give the user a random scene experience. A cool option would be to perhaps have a 4 door option at the end of a scene and ask the user to pick one. Unknown to the user, behind the scenes we have a 4 scene stacked selection for them, so regardless of which door they choose, they will get a different experience. I'm just thinking out loud and typing at the same time, which I know is dangerous, but this is pretty bloody cool. Stack & Align may well be the new Rock 'n' Roll
Hi @Andy i have followed your instruction but after the start level only my last level is repeating like we do to solo a level for testing.
@taimoorjavaid45 How long is your start level? If it is 4000 distance or longer only scene 8 will show in this example.
sooooo... what am I doing wrong here? 15 plays into oblivion... just background... nothing else repeats.... @Andy @Taimoor Javaid @Phill Mason @Jamie
I actually found how to do this own my own...(breaks arm patting self on back) . Was a thought this sort of thing could be one of several new tutorials for my YouTube page which will now cover BuildBox as well as all Apple publishing aspects. Would people like a series of tutorials if they helped new comers?
