Make An Option To Resume Game

I know I can make a powerup and then an action button with restart checkpoint , what I am looking for is a way to do it like subway surfer. i.e, if player dies once, he can use one key, if player dies again he will have to use 2 keys.

Any help is appreciated.

I think it is not possible. But you can make like everytime when player dies he should use 1 key. Or he can buy restart checkpoints from store and then use them to continue.
