The same has happened to me in the past, and I have fixed it by opening the bbdoc on winrar (right click, open with, winrar) and then deleting the image from the images folder.
Then open again your project on BB, and optimize the atlas to remove the blank space that has been left after deleting the image.
This works on Windows, I have not tried it on a Mac yet but it should be the same principle but with a different program.
Note: I strongly recommend you to do a backup of your game before trying any of this.

hi,@benfort ,thank you for the reply :).
i just gave it a try but it didn't work for me.
this is what i did.i am not sure if i did the last step corrently.
1.)i made a copy of bbdoc file.
2.)open the copied file with winrar and then extracted the content in a new folder.
2.)removed the images from image folder.
3.)then reopened the bbdoc file and clicked on optimize button but the images were still there in the atlases.
    Did i miss any step??

I think he meant you shouldn't extract the file before removing unwanted images. Haven't had the chance to test this myself, but I hope there will be an update to bb soon.

    Hi,
Have you tried deleting them directly on winrar? do not extract the file, do everything directly on winrar and then close it.
    That should work.
