I like the music and the mechanic. It looks like you have used drop shadows heavily on all of your visual elements. I do wonder if removing the drop shadows and keeping the elements would look better.

Great upgrade from the old gameplay, you've added a nice twist there! I think on the art style, you can do better with colors, you could try spend some time playing around with more color combinations. The shadows look pretty heavy to me, you can do with no shadow or thinner shadow. The trail doesn't look right, I've seen that before. You scaled the trail didn't you? you should use the trail texture with appropriate size and don't scale it in BB or it will make it look strange like that!
