Character trail like Skill Wave

Hi community,
newbie here
Can someone give me an idea how to make a trail similar to one of Skill Wave's powerups (the bubbles like thing)


I am just playing with the standard one and mine is kinda nervous.
Can't seem to figure how it's made.
iI'm not trying to replicate it, I just love how it follow the character smoothly and it's driving me nuts

Any suggestions?

 

maybe try to make many trails and link them together

I will make a small tutorial when I have the time.
Still have a ton to learn.

 

Yeah, I definitely would like to know too. So if you could share it in the meantime writing it down, it would be awesome for the other users as well.
