So I bought a license the day before subs were announced. Didn't ask for a refund because this is software and it wasn't stated refunds would be issued. No biggy, I was excited anyway. Then 2.0 announced... then told I missed the free upgrade by about 30 days and would have to pay the same as those that bought on day 1, if I want the upgrade. I am going to upgrade, no question about that, you all know I love the software. The GWON project was great fun and a huge learning opportunity. 1.3 is seemingly dead with no further updates coming, so I have to move 2.0. I have done the math, see attached image of my Excel sheet. Sorry it's a little sloppy. The end result on the far right shows the break even point if I go with the 12 month subscription vs buying another license. 20 months. If BB 3.0 comes out within 20 months, I save by switching to a subscription. (note: if I switch, I lose ALL rights to my BB1 license I just paid for in September) If BB 3.0 comes out after 20 months, I save by purchasing the full license. So, what is everyone's over / under??? Do you think BB will have a new major release in the next 20 months? I would love to hear staff chime in on this. So, what do you guys think, over or under 20 months?
To get an idea about update intervalls: Project Zero 2.16 30.08.2013 BB 1.0 19.08.2014 BB 1.0.5-156 02.09.2014 BB 1.0.6-171 08.09.2014 BB 1.0.8-184 16.09.2014 BB 1.0.11-197 30.09.2014 BB 1.1.1-358 07.01.2015 BB 1.1.2-368 06.02.2015 BB 1.1.0-369 31.03.2015 BB 1.2.1-545 22.05.2015 BB 1.3.1-624 17.07.2015 BB 1.3.4 20.08.2015 BB 1.3.5 27.10.2015 BB 2.0 Feb 2016
I bit the bullet and purchased the 12 month sub for 2.0. Natalie with sales, clarified something I thought I should mention here. Those that have a full license, will keep it, even if using the same account to get a discount on BB2.0 1.3, in all it's glory is yours forever.
