I've, kind of, solved it, but more of a workaround.
I used a pyramid object for each scene that Sends a message of the scene's name.
I have the same setup for each scene and I want to automatically set some actions depending on the scene.

I have scenes 1 - 12 randomly presented to the user. Once a scene is solved, e.g. scene 5, it is no longer presented to the user.
Maybe use a time score/counter that sends messages to a state machine for the object to change colour.
