Can't Activate Free Version

    I downloaded the free version of Buildbox and it never shows anything for me to activate it. Instead, it just pops and says "Activation failed" with no way for me to put in the license key.

    You may need to check that your VPN is turned off. If you still are stuck reach out to support and they can help you get started.

    Follow this route:
    C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Local\eightcell\Buildbox\com.eightcell.buildbox
    Delete the file:
    main.iblicense
    Try again.

    If it does not work:
    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
    Modify your hosts file

    I get the exact same error on a Mac, can any help with a Mac solution? Thanks in advance

    Same here. I deleted all "eightcell" folders/files in Application Support and Preferences, emptied the trash, redownloaded BBFree, but when I try to run it I get this message:

    I did send a ticket to support (via a web form from my account) but haven't heard back yet.

    It's been a while that i reported to the support of buildbox that they haven't responded yet. After searching about this problem on google so many people had similar issues just like me. Asd so, I requested them to change my license key and still not respoding. If anyone help to jump out of this problem i'm thankful to them.

    send them another email. as you can imagine, they have been quite busy setting everything up with the Buildbox Free version, and the game Jam. so emails can get lost. also remember, it is only 5 days to Christmas. so they are working overtime. if you send the email now, it will be up the top of the pile. I would imagine that Miko would even be the one to respond to you.

    good morning boxers,
    I was emailed a good key and still getting "Maximum system limits has been reached, contact support"
    what does that even mean?

    It means that you've either run BB on 2 different machines, or you've changed hard drive/mobo or some hardware between activating the licences. This is something that needs fixing their side, so you will need to email support or @Sean Buildbox can help you.

    Good morning and thanks but that's impossible, I only own and run one device and that's my MacBook this mac is the only machine I have used BB on.

    Support are closed over the weekend. You can try on discord. I guess it could be down to the change of certificate their side. Dont worry, they will resolve it but its frustration while you wait - but you can always scout out free assets or stuff like that as you wait.

    Does anyone have a fix for this yet? I know it's the holidays but I've emailed support twice since the free version came out. I'm just anxious to start using it and I have a little more time around the holidays and don't want to lose that. FYI - I'm on a Mac.

    Any help would sure be appreciated!

    they should of fixed it on there end. did u remove the com.eighcell.buildbox folder?

    Thanks tonymartz2 - I just tried this...and I'm on a Mac.

    Deleted Buildbox.app
    Searched for and deleted everything with eightcell in the name
    Searched for Buildbox and deleted the buildbox.plist
    Downloaded and installed the .dmg from the license portal.
    Ran the Buildbox app.
    It loaded, never prompted for a key and did not mention activation but seemed to load fine.
    Closed/exited it and tried again and now if fails with the "Activation Failed. Please contact..." popup message.

    The portal shows Systems registered: 0/2

    You might of missed a file unfortunately. If it is completely uninstalled than it would require you to place a new activation key. When I get home, I will take a look for you

    That would be great. Thank you!

    A detailed uninstall method for Mac users would probably benefit a lot of users that run into issues.

    FIX: (for MAC)
    as you know I have been having the same issue too. I resolved it by deleting two sets of com.eightcell.buildbox folders and com.eightcell.buildbox.plist.

    1) Load up finder menu, from top menu, click Go > (hold option key) then click Library > Preferences
    then in Preferences folder delete:

    2) last one to delete (not needed I think, but best to clear it all)
    Library / Application Support /

    delete the folder in application support.

    3) Empty the bin

    4) Re-install

    Mine only worked after someone at the company did something on their end -- I think it had something to do with the fact that I'd tried a 30-day trial at some point and so there was confusion in the licensing system about what was valid for me and what wasn't. Now I'm able to run BBFree on my MBPro with no problems.
