Hello BuildBox community! I have been searching the forums for a good hour and no forum post really answer my essential question; What do I need to do/know when I begin this process of making games for the stores.

I know this question is very broad but I feel it could help many new Boxers as they come and go so this post will hopefully not help me but will help others.

The things I would like to know are A) What to expect when producing games B) How to build hype and when should you build hype around your games C) When should you send games to publishers D) Best or decent methods of producing revenue. If you guys could answer any of these or even add more information I would greatly appreciate it!

    10 STEPS

    1. Check out other apps made with Buildbox here: https://www.buildbox.com/all-stars/ and here: https://www.buildbox.com/showcase/
    2. Watch all tutorials you can find here: https://www.buildbox.com/tutorials/ and here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=buildbox+tutorial
    3. Download the trial: https://www.buildbox.com/download/ and read the entire goddamn manual
    4. Play with the software and follow this tutorial to make your first game: https://www.buildbox.com/make-your-own-game/
    5. Come to the forum and learn more
    6. Play with the software a little more
    7. Buy the software here: https://www.buildbox.com/license-options/ and play with it a little more
    8. Get frustrated, get excited, get frustrated, get excited
    9. Get your first really great, completely finished and polished game to publishers
    10. Get disappointed but keep playing with the software

More or less this is what happens when you are beginning. Add to this that outside of this forum and the software you really should learn the most you can from game design, design, color theory, illustrations, animations, sound production, physics, mathematics, narrative and dramatics. You also should study the market, other games, the audience target, advertisement, social networks, globalization and what not. It is a huge industry with a huge activity range.

You can easily get lost. But when you succeed it is worth it and tons of fun!

I think I have made it all the way up to step 8, I binge watched all of the Make Your Own Game series and man did it help a lot. Right now I have the basics of my first game done I just need to do lots of rinse and repeat stuff like exporting frames from photoshop. All in all the 10 steps are really imported to do, at least the tutorials.

    Thank you!

    Hi Everyone,
I am beginner and new to game making. Great software. Still experienced lots of crashes but it's understandable hence it is in beta mode.

I have some basic 101 question hope can find some help here hence I have basically watched all the bb3 videos... still can understand the solution to my problem.

    1) different between 'world' and 'scene"
    2) I have done few scene, e.g 'Start, 1, 2, 3, end' and have 3 world's ( Level 1, level 2, level 3)
How can I make sure the game will go Start>1>2>3>end (Level 1) ... then go to level 2 >START>1>2.........
    3) I really dunno how to 'finish' the game after 'ends' and proceed to next level ... carrying alone all the points earn n etc.....

Many thanks. Trying to find tutorial on this basic steps but csnt find it.

Appreciate it someone can help Me out. Thank you in advance for your time.

Many of the articles posted on the Buildbox Blog address the issues of marketing, and a lot of things posted on the Buildbox Facebook group point to resources oriented toward those questions also.
There's no "central" index of all this stuff, unfortunately, so it's mostly a matter of searching it out.

I'd like to see an "official" tutorial series dealing with the "post-production" stages...
Once a game is finished creatively, there are still a lot of steps that need to be taken OUTSIDE of Buildbox to get it ready for marketing, and while there are some detailed tutorials addressing individual aspects of that process I haven't seen any kind of a "step-by-step" checklist of what to do once the game is given its final Save to get it exported to a specific platform and ready for submission to a distributor.
