How Can You Make A Character Show Damage In Intervals?

Hello,

I've been stuck for days now trying to figure out a way to have my character show damage. For example, a house is my character. It has a damage setting of 5 before it dies and game over. I wanted the house to show damage more and more times it gets hit. I have a set of 5 PNGs showing this but don't know how this can be done to show on the character during gameplay. Any help is highly appreciated!
