I want to achieve this - Character hits a bar on one side, sticks to it. To free him you have to tap again and he start jumping in the opposite direction and the process continues. Can this be done? Really appreciate any kind of help :)

Of course. as far as i think it can be done with Advance move on character, each time when it touches the platform make its velocity 0 -0 then make on tap a velocity in direction of the platform. Make two jump buttons one to jump to right and one to left.

As far I am Concerned you can add one character Jump Button. And doesn't this process need two buttons across the screen?

It does - one button for right and one for left

If you want to use just one button, use a switch button. You can also increase friction on the character that will make it stick to the platform
