Hi,guys my name is Haris latif and I'm 14 years old from Saudi Arabia and yeah as everyone here I love making games but the only thing I've come up to here is that I can't find any certain cool and unique and even easy to make I guess idea!!!
With that said I'm really in need of some good and cool ideas for games which are simple and can easy attract users or catch their retention!
Just a fact that I'm currently mostly on platformer games type!

    Thanks in advance!!!
    Haris latif

Figuring out the game market each week what games stick and what works takes a lot of time even without the limitation of buildbox. Ideas, mechanics and the awesomeness of a game is totally different from developing a game. You should reaserch more into Game Design. There are a lot of stuff to read out there. I would recomend you get an arcade game you like from the store and start breaking it down to mechanics. What you like and what you don't like about it. what would you change to it to make it better. And go from there. Build upon something that works at first

Check out the book Tinkertoys which is highly recommended by a lot of boxers, including from our superstar David Reichelt (Color Switch). This will get you for sure some ideas. :)

First question would be - are you self publishing or looking for a publisher? If you are doing this for yourself - knock yourself out. If you are looking to get something published - then research the publisher(s) you would like to work with and create a game that suits THEM and their player base.

    Good luck!

Make a game where like....You play as this Italian plumber and you gotta save a princess or something. Through your adventures...you run around and kick turtles for no reason. ya....and......and make it so he shoots fireballs out.....but when he does, it looks like he is flicking boogers that are on fire. That would be funny. For replay-ablity, Make a second character...call him....i dunno....Luigi or some stupid name like that. This way players can play the same game, but visually with a different looking character. Man...people will think its an addon....but it really isnt. Make him break bricks to get coins. I think its a genius idea myself......

i did that too , just for fun , specialy when they anonced Mario Run .
the funny thing is , anyone can make a mario run game , with buildbox , but would it even make the half of success like Mario run ? ofcourse not.
Nintendo is selling a brand , not a just a fun game . i won't be surprised if they launched more other mario games on ios.

The point is that any idea, doesn't matter how stupid it sounds (plumber that save princess , kills turtles and kick bricks) can be a hit. But it's all a gamble

I will have to disagree here. No game can become a hit UNLESS it is promoted like hell. I am sorry, but no game has ever made it to getting "that big" without being marketed extensively (which often requires a ton of money). Just look at color switch. Was it a game that introduced a new, original concept? Yes. Was it a GREAT game? YES.
But so do and so are a lot of games made with buildbox, and none of them have become "hits".
And I don't believe that if color switch was released with a medium ranged publisher it would have become a hit. (I AM NOT TRYING TO UNDERMINE THE GAME, I am just trying to prove a point)
Even the legendary "flappy bird" reached the top because of some celebrities posting about it on social media, when it had 20k downloads. (and the publisher grasped the opportunity and paid for "fake" installs from India to keep the game at the top).

What I am trying to say is that even though the originality and fun of your game really DO matter, they won't make your game a hit. It's not that much of a gamble in that aspect, meaning that people will not play one game more because of the concept, or appreciate the effort you put in it. People will play the game because it's promoted, because they see stup...""funny"" videos of people play it, because they see everyone else play it and want to beat their friends' highscore.

So in my opinion it's like 10% concept (originality and/or design) and 90% promotion.

As a brand specialist I totally agree with @MichKrane... Every successful product depended on marketing of some sort.

No advertisement is advertisement of no business.

What it comes down to is money from either your or the publisher.

Even with ads if the game has a low retention rate you are just throwing money out the window. When I say a "hit game" I mean something that is good and profitable from the point of view : money spent on ads + money received from in game ads or purchases = positive . If that balance is negative you kinda have to move to the next idea. At least that's how i see it while INDIE not AAA

It seems though we moved way out of the subject this post is about and I would like to answer to harislatif.

Look, this program is amazing and gives you a lot of potential. Even concepts you would think are impossible to create with buildbox, they could be created with a bit of creativity and tricks. Buildbox is all about tricks. You can't create a game if you have no idea how to make it work. The best thing you can do right now is keep creating your platformers, but keep adding more and more and more stuff and you will gradually learn a lot of things that will help you in future games. Use EVERY component or feature the software has to offer, experiment, learn.
Actually a really good way to come up with ideas, is to examine all the possibilities of the program.
Once you get to that point, you will be able to come up with an idea and then implement it immediately!
