Software To Make My Own Graphics?

    Does anyone have any recommendations on any software to use to make my own graphics, backgrounds and other stuff for my projects? Software which is free or not too dear on price would be preferred

    Gimp, Inkscape, Spriter, Marmoset...

    Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, pixelmator, etc.

    GIMP, most certainly. By far the best software for someone like you. Much easier than other "heavy" programs to learn, and once you learn it you can create anything in a short amount of time. And that without having to sacrifice good quality. I would say that it does 90% of what Photoshop can do.

    I would also recommend using blender for 3D graphics to use in isometric games. Also free, maybe a bit harder to use because it is a 3d modeling program, but if you watch a couple of tutorials you will be able to use it to make simple platforms and other stuff.
