Hi guys, check this out - no matter what I do, I can't see more of the game. if I drag the frame border to "see" more, then my character goes up in the screen. I need it in the same place that she is at but to be able to see more of the screen Thank you
Man, I love your work. You really are a talented artist. What part do you want to see more? More of the street? If yes, wouldn't you need more image at the bottom? Like a foreground or something?
Thank you - I'm not a talented artist. I don't know how to draw a stickman. I'm just very good in knowing what I don't know and picking the right staff to do it I want to see more to the side. just like in the right picture.
thank you but it's not about the preview. it's about the ability to give the player more space to see.
Thank you. Maybe but at the moment I just want to see more from it like the picture on the right just on the left
I agree with @brakewind723, I'd make the road a lot wider, but also consider making all your graphics at least half their size. This increases the gameplay field by double and provides more world to explore per scene - exciting
Just a thought, have you set the sides threshold to something large enough? I know it's only for when you're scrolling and then return, but perhaps it's restricting what your previewing because of the game angle?!?!
I think you see on the left exactly what you see on the right. Isn't the gray border on the right what you have on the left? This is the border that shows you the actual screen cut out. What we all say is that you need to make the graphics smaller (or in other words, have a wider framing) if you want to see more of the street.
@eyal I understand what you mean maybe. You may need to raise the top of the frame border, try bringing it to the top of the scene. As the top of the frame is set to not allow character pass, i think the top of the frame is pushing the character forward? see hoe it goes. Only thing i can think off that may be wrong.
Thank you guys but when I try to make he frame bigger, it effects the character but in a wrong way. it brings it up to the top and makes it unplayable
Maybe alter gravity to keep the character down. Not sure. But i don't have time till tomorrow to play around trying it. is it a jumping game or an avoidance game.? If its jumping you can't have the frame like that as the character won't be able to jump. If you haven't got it solved by tomorrow ill have a go and see what i can do.
Have you tried different screen adjustments? Fit to height/width? Decreasing the size of the background based on what you see in the preview, not based on what is in the world builder will help too. Aside from those, no other ideas.
you see that grey frame in your start scene? you are not going to "see" more than that... you need to "zoom out" all your artwork so that you are including more of it inside that grey frame, that frame represents a device... your preview is showing you exactly what you have told buildbox to show....
That's exactly what I said: but I think eyal is referring to something else. We just have to find out what.
@eyal here is a really rough quick demo. https://www.dropbox.com/s/z0i2vznrg4zoh15/iso demo.bbdoc?dl=0 And the grey frames is not what you will only see. in the game. They are the character boundaries,. (camera), the grey frames is when your character collides with them the camera will move with them. If that makes sense. You had them close but just needed the top one higher. Also i removed the ghost jump, as that was the problem with your character going wayward up in the air. But when time permits ill make a demo with the ghost jump, as it need the linear velocity to be altered, a bit of playing and testing needed. But the bigger the boundaries on the top allows room for the character to jump. If the right boundry is to far right your character will go out of the right of screen, So it has to be close, And the same with the bottom grey frame must be close to the character to allow the smooth downward angle of the game play. Also another note: the game speed and character speed need to be adjusted so you get a smooth motion, especially with a jumping game. If the speeds are out of whack then the whole screen will have an up and down jitter.effect. I have the speeds in the demo pretty close but might need some altering to get it smoother. Hope that makes some sense, but check the file and see. im not to good at explanations. LOL
