Under the menu jump option, there is a function dropdown with Default and Start Next Checkpoint. Can someone explain the purpose of it? The manual doesn't show it at all and the forum search turns up nothing. edit: nevermind, figured out there is a checkpoint system in the game. Exactly what is Start Next Checkpoint though? How does BB know where/what the next checkpoint is? Is it always just the next scene in the world? I understand Restart and Set Checkpoint.
It's under the action type for the actions. Should be Set Checkpoint, Restart Checkpoint and Next Checkpoint.
ok.. so.. as the player comes across checkpoints, the program looks to see if it is a "set checkpoint" meaning "hey this is where we left off" or a "next checkpoint" meaning, "find the next checkpoint in the game and go there".. you could use "next checkpoint" as a warping system or something.. if the player exits the game, the last "set checkpoint" they came across is saved so that when they hit continue, bam, they are at the last "set checkpoint" they came across... even if a "next checkpoint" took them to a "set checkpoint".. the "restart checkpoint" takes them BACK to the last "set checkpoint".. just like a ui button on a game over screen set to "restart checkpoint" allows the player to continue the game where they left off does... this video may also shed some light on the subject
Thanks @healthclose. So if I never use a set checkpoint button/action, is it same to assume that the set checkpoint is set when a new scene/world is entered. Also are checkpoint locations saved in the user's data? Meaning can a user hit a checkpoint, have it saved then continue the game tomorrow (close the app, maybe the phone but come back to a continue button to where they last left off).
yep only if you drag a "set checkpoint" action in and resize it so your character hits it when they enter the scene/world
