As an experiment to see if a Facebook group that allows shameless promotion for game developers can grow into a large group, I have started a Facebook group -- so go join!
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/shamelessgamepromotion/
Most groups on Facebook for game marketing have really strict policies on what can get posted, what is "crap" and what is not, and how often posts can be made, but this group won't. It will allow shameless promotion of games.

In starting a group like this one, it, of course, starts from zero (well, 3 members now). However, if Buildboxers join it and invite others, the group can grow in size and attract other parties as well from Facebook, including gamers who want to see new games. It won't hurt to join.
If the group can grow in size, then it will be additional resource for, say, game launches and steam greenlight campaigns.

Yeah, some rules may need to enter the picture... However, it would be nice to post something more than once a week without facing threat of being removed from a group, you know. I have not faced that personally, but I have seen some group admins in the other game dev facebook groups say stuff like "ok, time to clear the crap and remove people posting it." Maybe non-game crap (porn or worse) should be reported and deleted.
Feel free to suggest ideas, publicly or privately, if you have them, about the group. There are already a lot of groups on Facebook that people here should go join, but this one is meant to be a little less strict in hopes of building up a larger base of members than the other groups. My hope is to promote in this group and the others, when I market my own games, and I encourage others to do the same

Hey FOLKS, how is this? Though it is starting from zero members, what else might hold you back from joining - please share your thoughts.

Not a fan of open groups. Rules and (most of all) filters give the group a quality stamp and that's why users (in this case: gamers) will be a part of it. If anyone can post any game people will loose interest after several bad games are posted. Sorry to disagree, but this is not going to work.

I am not posing an argument or position to disagree with. Still, I appreciate your thoughts on this. There are plenty of Facebook groups that satisfy those needs that you describe.
However, I will say that the focus of this group is not on the crap or gold of quality game experience, but the focus is on building a large audience launchpad for those who are looking for new games and looking to make decisions about the games they play based on their own definitions of crap and gold of gameplay, rather than based on that of an admin. In that sense, it is quite shameless not just in promoting games, but in trying to build a large audience, regardless of their standards of crap and gold in gameplay.
Also, you know that if this group existed with such a large membership to launch to and so few rules about promotion, that you, as a game would shamelessly use it... :)

At some point I am going to start driving some traffic to it from outside both facebook and this bbox forum. I encourage others to do the same. I know that @Collin Wade Thiessen plans to post an update to it soon, which will hopefully help kickstart sharing moods among those who are already in the group. Every facebook group like this that now has thousands of members, had its start with just a few...
Also, I think that after the group gets at least 100 members, people may then be able to just add themselves without admin approval - I will double check this.

@Rebel Studios I think you are my most recent approval. Thanks for doing this. Share it if you know others outside of this forum who may be interested, please.
It'd be great to make this group gamer-friendly, and if changing the name from "Shameless" to something else would help do it, then I could easily do that. Any suggestions?

Should I change the name to "New Games for Gamers?" or something like that?
