Color Switch is not available anymore on the appstore and on the playstore. In an interview David Reichelt @Machine Rises told that in december 2017 his agreement is going to come to an end and he may release his own company with maybe (and hopefully) an Color Switch sequel. I don't know how is he going to start from the beginning after leaving the 150 million download mark.
Details on the Color Switch website. David posted a couple of weeks ago about it. https://colorswitch.co
"As of December 22nd, the Color Switch app has been taken down by our former publisher because they are holding our game hostage." So does this mean that Fortafy is a bunch of assholes? lol. They are probably acting that way because Color Switch was their only game pretty much. Noticed Fortafy's google play store is dead too. https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Fortafy+Games&hl=en And their Apple Store is dead. https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/fortafy-games/id1092166253 Wow.....this is going to damage their credibility.
Maybe. But David himself said a couple of weeks ago in a posting: FYI Color Switch isn't going anywhere it's just down temporarily. I own 100% of the IP and this had to be done for me to be 100% independent.
That wasn't their only game. Chicken Scream was published by fortafy too. Wonder why that got deleted as well?
Well, there is always two sides to every story. I'm sure Fortafy helped Color Switch reach those users. "If you build it, they will come" isn't a quote any app developer will say. I'm sure David can be independent now from the success of Color Switch. I've played it, and I have to admit that it is a fun game to play. Maybe David can offer some tips on what are reasonable negotiations with publishers without disclosing any personal revenue.
Chicken Scream never was published by Fortafy but by one of the Fortafy's partners. He has his own Google and Apple accounts though and it goes under the name: http://perfecttapgames.com/
I'm sure we can all agree that it was money related. I went to Fortafy's website and they don't have any apps up. I'm not sure what other games they had under them, but Fortafy is a fairly new company and Color Switch was one of their first games published under them. Seems like the contract was up. Perhaps Fortafy wanted to keep more of the revenue, perhaps David wanted more revenue. Maybe Fortafy wanted more control of the game. We can only speculate.
