ow... just 2 game concepts I am working on for the BuildBox 2.0 release Have to be prepared. What do you think? Tower defense game and a 2d platformer with a twist - and multiplayer
Both look great @mobile_gamegraphics I particularly like the amount of detail on the castle, given how small it is, great work. Q: Do you work in a 3D program and then set the final camera angle on your entire scene mock up, or do you work on each individual graphic and then bring them all together in a scene to check angles etc? I'm curious about the whole 2.5D approach and I use After Effects and Element 3D for 3D graphics and am interested how other folks approach this look, thanks.
Well It supports Isometric design and I believe most of the features will be supported. The only one I am not sure of is the placement of the Towers -if I will be able to click and place them on the map.. WE will have to wait and see.
We do individual design on all elements (not 3D) and use only Photoshop and then Spine for Animations. We tried the 3D approach but I didn't like how it turned out so we did 2.5D. I do have talented artist working on this though
Heath bar - I believe that was possible in previous version with a bit of tweak? Tower Upgrades - I was actually thinking of doing a Shop before a level where you could buy and upgrade your towers there with in-game currency (not in-game) ...
- For the health bar, I try not to use tweaks as it could have negative impact on hardware if badly done and considering that it would be needed a lot in TD games - I like the idea of in-game currency, a diff twist to object upgrades
I am waiting for the BB 2.0 pre-release before I dive into it. From what I've seen in the videos, this should be possible with a bit of hack..
hehe Thanks - BB 2.0 should be pre-released today - fun times ahead I hope.... no major bugs this time please.
