What Indie Game was #1 the Longest?

Anyone know what indie game has had the longest run at #1 overall in the US? I know Angry Birds had like a 4 month stint but was that indie at the time?

Crossy Road sounds a pretty good bet but what about Minecraft? Not sure if that qualifies as indie? Microsoft now but did pretty well I think before the buy out!

 

According to App Annie Crossy Road never made it to #1 for Overall.

 

I'm talking about the Top Free Overall category to be specific because that's my category

 

Angry Birds def has the record from what I've researched so far. With no break they have clocked 80 something days back in 2010.

I'm surprised that Crossy Road never was at the number 1 spot. The big success though of Crossy Road is to maintain a rank in the top 100 for a very long time. Flappy Bird was at the number 1 in a lot of countries till Dong Nguyen pulled the switch just 24 days after. Color Switch is already over a month there. Congrats again! Bigger success is just not possible. Can't imagine what you are going through. Must be a crazy trip you have going on there. Did you cross 20 millions in the Appstore already?

 

Ha! Funny you asked, I had Tiana on our team pull data on this earlier today. I'm 90% sure the longest running free game in the top spot was Flappy Bird. Angry Birds and Minecraft have had longer stints, but they were paid games. The paid chart moves much slower.

Flappy Birds hit the top spot on January 17th 2014. I'm fairly certain it stayed their until it was removed from the store on February 10, 2014. That would be 24 days. There could have been a dip during that time, but there is no chart data for it anymore on App Figures or App Annie.

Anyways, I think you have a STRONG SHOT at beating it. That is freakin' AMAZING.

 

@TreySmith right I totally forgot Angry Birds was in the paid category. Well we hit #1 on the 20th so we are not that far off

Lol. I was convinced that Color Switch hit number 1 since the beginning of January. But you are right (of course). It's the 20th. But I'm sure you are going to beat Flappy Bird for several weeks.

Wasn't Pop the Lock up for awhile in 1st? I think Twist too but idk if it's considered indie.

 

@Machine Rises i know you cant comment but if i had to gues your round about 14-16million downloads by looking at your leaderboard, ive found in my games is usaully double whats in your leader board but your in a different league so could be wrong. Congrats again youve earnt it
