My character moves down at the speed of the background when it touches the edge.  It's not supposed to do that.  Is there something I am doing wrong?  The background is moving down with character moving up.  The character is meant to be stationary vertically with the user being able to move the character left/right.  Also, inside the Image Edit - I do not have Stick to Edge selected.

Thanks for any advice here.

From your description of your character moving up with the background moving down, i'm guessing you're are either making an avoidance game or a jumping game. Firstly, i'd suggest editing your game frame settings, switching the lines from yellow, red ,white to indicate the areas you want your characters to pass through, get defeated when touched or even still block this certain areas from your character passing through them. Then set a defeated animation for your character, setting your character's game over setting to about 3 - 5 seconds. To enable the character move left and right, i'm guessing like in line zen, go over to your menu editor, open the game field, add and drag a joystick button over the area of control and set the joystick sensitivity to 1 and control to absolute. This should allow you move your character left to right like in line zen or add two buttons (not joystick) one overlaying the left side of the screen and the other on the right indicating that character moves left or right respectively in the button settings. Like in Phases.

Hope this helps ;)

Yep, avoidance similar to Line Zen. I want the user to have the full width of the screen to move back and forth. It just when the character hits the edge of the blocked area that the character is being forced down. It's like there is friction on the edge of the screen and the character moves down with the background speed. It doesn't matter if I move the edges around for blocking the character. If I move the edges in, then the character moves to that point (if I move all way to the right edge holding right arrow) then the character moves down. ????

Have you tried setting the gravity values on the y-axis in your game world settings to zero? Or disabling fall attribute in your character's settings?

Y and X axis setting are set to zero. Also fall attribute is set to 0.

I got confused with this problem for a long time. At last,I solve it by putting walls at both edges. Hope this work :)
